BACKGROUND OF CSI
It will be none less than peeping into a deep well with a golden coating when we go for its background. We have yet made an effort to have an insight into this successful voyage.

ESTABLISHMENT
Formed in 1965, the CSI has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry down the right path since its formative years. Today, the CSI has 69 chapters all over India, 381 student branches, and more than 70,000 members, including India’s most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians. Now, you have the opportunity to be a part of this distinguished fraternity too.
The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community. The CSI is also working closely with other industry associations, government bodies and academia to ensure that the benefits of IT advancement ultimately percolate down to every single citizen of India.

HISTORY

Computer Society of India established in the year 1965 is today the largest IT professionals Society in India. The purposes of the Society are scientific and educational directed towards the advancement of the theory and practice of computer science, computer engineering and technology, systems science and engineering, information processing and related arts and sciences. It shall endeavor to:
  • Promote interchange of information, in these disciplines and sub-disciplines, amongst the specialists and between specialists and the public.
  • Encourage and assist the professionals engaged in these fields to maintain the integrity and competence of the profession and Foster a sense of partnership amongst the professionals, engaged in these fields.
Means to these ends are the holding of meetings for the reading and discussing of professional papers, the publication and circulation of works of literature, science and art pertaining thereto and any other activities necessary, suitable and proper for the fulfillment of these objectives. 









Mission Statement

While you gain professionally through the CSI ‘s myriad activities, you also automatically repay to society, in no small measure, the personal enrichment and glory that the IT industry has enabled for you and your family over the years.

Vision Statement

Keeping in mind the interest of the IT professionals & computer users, CSI works towards, making the profession an area of choice amongst all sections of the society. The promotion of Information Technology as a profession is the top priority of CSI today. To fulfill this objective, the CSI regularly organizes conferences, conventions, lectures and gives various awards. And at the same time it also ensures that regular training and skill updating are organised for the IT professionals.
CSI also works towards a global approach, by seeking out alliances with organizations overseas who may be willing to come forward and participate in such activities. also helps governments in formulating IT strategy & planning.

Journey of Genesys from v1.0- Genesys V2.0


“Success is a habit…” is rightly said. Manifesting this, we emulated Genesys with v2.0 which in turn emphasized the success story. Events in Genesys v2.0 are as under tech talk cyber security, gd,ppt ,hobby project ,quiz ,coding ,debate ,stress interview ,offline treasure hunt, web designing ,Google junkie ,counterstrike . Genesys v2.0 was held on 26th n 27th of Feb,2011with cyber law head of India visited GIT.
With all these success already scripted onto the pages of CSI GIT,this year we look upto a bigger and much awaited venture that is GENESYS v3.0. This is projected to be a state level fiesta with much more promises and credibility to fulfill them.

Genesys v2.o (read as version 2 point ‘o’) a 2-day tech-fest fully conforming to the by-laws of CSI. was organized under the G.I.T. Student Branch CSI Executive Committee for the year 2010-11 on 26th-27th Feb, 2011.
 The focus of the event was to strike the best mix between Conventional Practices and Refreshing New Procedures to impart technical knowledge in a professional way.

Tasks performed by the current TEAM CSI


1.                 Workshop on Cloud Computing and Spring Framework
A one-day workshop on vCloud Computing & Spring-framework in association with VMware India Pvt. Ltd. was organized on 7 May, 2011. The workshop provided the student delegates a hands-on experience on cloud computing and spring framework. Shri Ajay Chaudhary (Senior Manager R&D) and Shri Gopal Srinivasan accompanied by 10 experts from VMware interacted with the student community at GIT and shared their technical knowhow on cloud computing. Around 85 student delegates from various colleges attended the workshop. Mr T Sabapathy (Karnataka State Coordinator for CSI) was the workshop convener.



2.    Membership Drive


We are pleased to inform about our Membership Drive 2011-12  having made 137 NEW registrations thereby making us a body comprising 227 Active members.
